A chat compresses every photo and buries them in an hour. A shared drive needs the right account, the right permissions and a person who nags. A QR code on the badge desk needs none of that: attendees open the gallery in the browser, upload in one tap, and the marketing team has a moderated set at full resolution before the coach leaves the car park.
Turn on approval and nothing appears in the gallery until somebody on your side has seen it. Every upload is also screened automatically for content that should not be there. You can remove anything at any time, and delete the whole event when it has served its purpose.
